‘God surprises earth with heaven, Coming here on Christmas Day’ These two banners were inspired by this wonderful phrase from John Bell’s Hymn, ‘Who Would Think What was Needed’ (1987). We wanted to contrast something of the cosmic generosity of God with the paired back simplicity of His son’s birth on earth. We loved the true surprise element, which is so often mislaid at Christmas, of God bringing heaven down to earth.

Christmas Pillar Banners: In these banners we wanted to bring together the symbolism of Jesus being the light of the world and our prayer that He would shine on us and use us as part of His light in our world. At the time of making the banners (about 2002) Shine Jesus Shine was voted the churches’ favourite hymn.
