Church Membership

People often ask whether they need to ‘join’ their church and become a member. This is not essential but, for those who decide to take this step, it can deepen their sense of belonging and it entitles a person to share in decisions about the life and future of the local church.

The URC encourages regular attendees to consider church membership when they start to think of a particular place of worship as ‘their church’.

Church members commit to supporting the church through giving, action, and by taking part in the Church Meeting, as well as through regular attendance at worship.

What do I need to do to join AAURC?

If you have been attending AAURC for a little while and find you are drawn to being more fully committed, do speak to one of the ministers, the church secretary or one of the elders about becoming a member. They will visit and chat about more about the widder URC and life here at AAURC; what we believe; what the benefits and responsibilities of membership are; how you can expect to grow and feel empowered as a member of this church; and how your membership can make a difference in this community and in the world.

If you are already a member of a URC congregation elsewhere then we can organise a transfer of membership to this congregation.
