For almost 40 years we have had an active Banner Making Group. We see banners as part of worship, helping us to focus on God, to express our appreciation and understanding of God and enabling others to worship.
Inspiration for banners comes from a range of sources, including times of worship, Bible study, reflections on faith in our time, and current challenges, as well as requests from our Minister. Ideas grow and develop as we start to make the banner. We find new insights and symbolism as the banner takes form and we try different materials and techniques. Some of our banners involve the whole congregation in either contributing materials or as part of the process. It is a moving and joyous experience!
You will find a gallery of some of our banners here and if you click on an image you will find a bit of background to each banner.
